Harris of Neptune, N.J., and S. Sgt. Leonard J. Safford of Chillum, Md., had been arrested on charges that they had conspired with Nikolai F. Popov, a first secretary at the Soviet Embassy in Washington, and Anatoly T. Kireyev [sic], a counselor of the Soviet Mission at the United Nations. [...] Two Soviet diplomats named as conspirators left the country before the arrests were announced. [...] The Pentagon said that Mr. Popov handed the camera to Sergeant Safford on June 3 at or near the Fairfax Restaurant in Southeast Washington D.C. 27, 29f. Haus aus gelben ... Band exotischer Stiermuster - Das Eckgebäude zur 96. Straße, 243 Riverside Drive, Apartment 204, war Johnsons New Yorker Adresse vom Mai 1966 bis zum 20.8.1968. Das Haus wurde 1914 von Herman Lee Meader erbaut. »A mediocre building notable only for mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and buffalo skulls on the frieze. They symbolize the life of the Arizonan cliff dwellers and serve to tie these prehistoric people to the modern cliff dwellers of Manhattan«, AIA Guide (1968), S. 146.
»For the past hundred years or so, New Yorkers have been called ›cliff dwellers‹ for reasons that are obvious. The architect of this otherwise undistinguished apartment house (Herman Lee Meader, 1914) displayed a keen sense of humor in the frieze that depicts motifs from the lives of the early Arizona Cliff Dwellers, with masks, buffalo skulls, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes.
