The main basis for the town information system Stettin, which is in process at this time, is the so called Swedish town record of 1706/07. Over the course of several months Swedish surveyors did not only survey all plots of the town (centre), but detailed descriptions of all buildings in the town centre as well as in the suburbs were carried out. In the early stage of the workings, the premises of some houses were described especially detailed. In addition to this, in singular cases coloured drawings of facades were produced, six of which are displayed here courtesy of the Landesarchiv Greifswald ((Provincial Archive, Greifswald). The text belonging to each drawing summarises the contents of the respective house description.
The map "Stettin around 1700" that was developed by Friedrich Niemeyer in the context of the project is based on a town map of Stettin dating back to the year 1721, which was published by Martin Wehrmann in 1911. Incorporated into the single building blocks are the plot drawings from 1706/07 that were made by the Swedish surveyors during their workings. The Heiliggeistviertel, a quarter situated centrally at the river Oder (recognizable by its different colouring), presents an exception. In this case, the map does not show the plot boundaries of 1706/07, but the development of the year 1721, which however should show great similarity to the conditions 15 years earlier. The same applies to the area of the "Klosterhof" (the monastery courtyard), for which there are also no building block maps from the Swedish town survey available.
