Owing to a grant by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the research project "Network of Towns and Urbanisation in the Baltic Area in Modern Times" will be continued until 31 December 2005 at the universities of Rostock and Wismar.
Referring to the title "Town and Sea in the Baltic Region in the 17th and 18th Century: Sea-trade, Social structure and House building - documented in Historical Information Systems" the following sub-projects will be dealt with in the year 2005:

Sub-project B1: Shipping and maritime trade of the Baltic towns in the 17th and 18th Century, especially by the analysis of Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Estonian and German customs registers of ports (link to the EU-project "Urban Cultural Inheritance of Mare Balticum” - an internet portal).

Sub-project C6: The medium-sized and small towns in Swedish Pomerania around 1700: a comparing social-, constructive- and economic-historical analysis of about 25 medium-sized and smaller towns of Swedish-Pomerania based on the Swedish land survey of 1692 until 1709, and additionally the classification is made into a regional and the whole area of the Baltic Sea spanning network of towns as well as the conversion of essential results into a historical information system.

Sub-project C7: World culture inheritance city of Stralsund: research into building and construction in the 17th and 18th century: recording and comparing interpretation of the preserved buildings from those days based on the material from the town archive and the city council of Stralsund.
